Me & My Work

Hi, I’m Aashna—a BFA Illustration student at Parsons School of Design. Over the years, I’ve explored and shaped my identity, which serves as the foundation for my artistic expression. I believe in process-oriented art, where each piece evolves alongside my personal and emotional growth. My work thrives on experimentation, constantly pushing me to visualize ideas that challenge and surprise me. For me, art is a way to uncover who I am, understand the world as it is, and imagine what it could be.

I’m fascinated by human behavior—how words, body language, and even the smallest gestures reveal our thoughts and emotions. I find inspiration in the complexities of human connection, whether it’s a relationship unfolding in a movie scene or the nuances of a conversation. Music also plays a pivotal role in shaping my creative vision. I draw inspiration from live performances, music videos, and the intricate ways artists compose and express their work. Observing live musicians has taught me how rhythm and storytelling can translate into visual art.

My cultural heritage deeply influences my perspective as well. It informs the colors, patterns, and narratives I weave into my illustrations. Music and culture together form a symphony of inspiration, grounding my work while pushing me to think beyond the boundaries of what I know.

I want my art to spark curiosity, evoke emotions, and maybe even inspire someone to embrace their own individuality and take bold steps in their creative journey. My goal is to create, embolden, and agitate the busy canvas of every place I visit, leaving behind a little piece of myself for others to discover.
